I’m always a sucker for a good pair of distressed denim. It’s always the first pieces I’m drawn to when I look for jeans. I love the fit of these boyfriend jeans (under $30) because they slim down through the legs so they are not too oversized, and they are the perfect light wash. Seems like post baby I have been gravitating towards oversized pieces that are comfortable as a busy mom on the go.

I wanted to share a couple tips I’ve found for perfecting my distressed denim. The first thing I always do is over rip the slits. Especially at the knees, pull the rip all the way to the side seems. This helps give them that worn in look and makes it more comfortable for your knees so there is not stress against the threads. The second thing I’ve found is cuffing the bottom with a thin roll. Typically the inside of the denim is a different color so the roll will create contrast against the regular wash on the outside. If the jeans are oversized I try to create a thin sleek roll to offset the baggy style. This is key if you are wearing heels, the polished roll helps tie in the heels.

There’s nothing more stressful than running around town trying to find a dress for an upcoming wedding or black tie event.  It’s always the times when you’re looking for something specific and can’t find it, right?!  This LBD from Nordstrom is perfect for weddings, cocktail parties, galas, balls…  It’s comfortable, flattering, and can be worn in the summer (it would look gorg with turquoise earrings) and winter (with a gold necklace and fur stole.)  You could even belt it for a more casual look.  Nordstrom has so many pretty dresses right now – I’ve been eyeing this one and this one from their New Years dress section.  Shop more of my favorite dresses from Nordstrom below (and make sure to snap up my LBD while it’s on sale!)

Our little Fitzy baby is getting big & I don't like it! John and I have this theory that he is entering his 'terrible twos' (LOL) right now because some of things he recently started doing. It is hilarious but so bad! Like, turning over the trashcan in my office - emptying it out - then going inside of it and digging (as if it is dirt?!). Oh, can't forget - he shreds the paper after he empties the trashcan. John noticed that he is losing teeth and new ones are growing in so I think he just really needs to be chewing on something all day to make his gums feel better.

Do y'all have big plans for the weekend?! Christmas shopping perhaps? My parents are coming up in the morning to help us with the move - I am not excited about moving but I am happy to get to be with them!

Have a great weekend!

This pretty little flowy floral dress was the right item to make me feel pretty. Who says you can’t wear floral print during the holidays? The key to that is to add fun details to make it have a “festive” feel. Instead of over-the-knee boots, I opted for a cool pair of metallic oxfords for an unexpected touch. A cozy beanie added that fall/wintery vibe too!

So many flowy dresses to choose from during the holidays so I make sure to stick to brands that I love like Free People at Nordstrom. From high end bags to more inexpensive ones, or from accessories to home goods, I know I can always rely on nordstrom to find exactly what I’m looking for. I love this dress and already have3 other ways I can wear it: long cardigan and over-the-knee boots, denim jacket paired with all-star converse high top in black,  or a fedora hat and suede brown booties! So versatile!
Don’t be afraid to mix things up by adding some metallic- it gives it that extra pop!

We shot these last week before the storm hit. In fact it was so warm I did end up taking off my coat eventually. But I went for a Christmas-y sort of color scheme and it definitely made me feel full of cheer :) It helped to have some coffee too of course.

I personally think this is a great office look, but I know that often prints or bold colors are a big no no at work. What do you guys think? According to an article on Forbes.com, polka dots are a yes. But then again they say drawstring pants and lace hem pencil skirts are okay too and I think those are definite no's. Thoughts?

Have a great weekend!

There you go, I’m back in jeans and warm coats again. But only for a couple of weeks…then we’re going to Thailand! Love this coat btw. I’ve been looking for the perfect grey coat a long time now and now I finally found it. :-)))) I’m gonna stay at the office for one more hour then go home and continue decorating. We finally finished painting last night so now we’re gonna decorate the wall bookshelf and put up some shelfs in the kitchen. Still chaos though, can’t wait for it to be nice and clean haha.

Red leather pants, my type of holiday outfit! I've been debating these pants for eons, but thought "hmmm..red leather pants? How much use am I really going to get out of them?"  Well surprisingly, a lot!  Since getting them over two weeks ago, I've been wearing them non-stop. My friends would probably agree.

Here, I went for a fairly bold, red-on-red look for a holiday party. Not that I wouldn't wear this on a normal day, because I certainly would, but it's especially perfect for this time of year.

Good morning and happy Friday, Everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Wanted to share an outfit I wore to a recent impromptu shopping trip. After a few cold, rainy days, I woke up on Friday hoping to see some sunshine, but instead was greeted by dark clouds and chilly breeze. Personally, I don't mind the cold that much, but lack of sunshine, especially a few days in a row, makes me seriously blue. After some sulking and whining, Emil and I decided to take a walk around our favorite spot on Melrose in an effort to chase away some of these blues. After all, is there really a better cure for bad mood than some shopping and dining? Well, that and of course wearing your new favorite sweater also tends to do the trick... At least for me:)

You see, I had my eye on this gorgeous Alexander Wang number for some time now, so when I spotted it on a recent trip to Nordstrom, I just couldn't resist trying it on. Once I put it on, it was pretty much game over. I knew it was coming home with me:) Can't really decide what I love the most about it, the colors, the bubble texture or the slightly oversized fit, but the combination of all is simply stunning! I really had my heart set on wearing it with white, but seeing how it looked a lot like it was going to rain on Friday, I decided not to take that chance. Suppose this means the sweater is going to have to make another appearance on this blog because it really looks quite beautiful paired with all white. Hope you guys don't mind seeing it again:)!
